What is an umbrella company?

An Umbrella company will take on the role of the ‘employer’ by providing the services of a contractor to an end client or agency using an overarching employment contract. With this contract, the contractor effectively becomes a permanent employee of the umbrella company.

The umbrella company will receive weekly/monthly timesheets from a candidate and use the information to invoice the candidate’s agency or client. The agency/client will pay the gross amount to the umbrella company. The contractor receives his or her salary payment into their personal account, net of our costs.
